Now I’m starting to wonder: what ever became of Tiffany’s mum? Divorce perhaps? Gunther’s mum is a widow.

That is nowhere near what happened… – Gunther spoke of the car part, himself. She wasn’t thinking anything about the car. She used his words about planning to segue to what she wanted to discuss.. not the car, at all…. –

Salamander wranglers with their tiny, little lassos, out on the trail to rope themselves some wild critters. I think Miss Tiffany is going to find herself an old barn, take the man in black out behind it, and have her way with him.

“Had Gunther been “spontaneous” and bought a car, she wouldn’t have flipped out. Also, buying a car is a subset of “life”^That’s not lining up with her own words: " Not a car! Me! Us! Life! "

Lol, I think if it were even a bicycle, the sound of Rush would get the pedals crankin’ …

H’ohy…. – She didn’t hate him… she already knew of his inwardness… – She was exasperated that he didn’t get her point, as he sometimes has a tendency to “focus on the trees, and not the whole forest”… – She was hoping to get him to see a “bigger picture”, as she was planning/hoping to go to Peru, and was trying to give him “fair warning”. With Gunther, it had to be “spoonfed”, since as it was stated in last week’s strips, he isn’t one to handle changes so well. Even just after “bathroomgate”, he finally got a bit bold enough to “plant one on her kisser”, and she again tried to “ease” the subject of considering getting bolder, as it was looming a bit closer to “C-Day”….even Quill (of all people) didn’t disagree, and tried to help him find a way to be a bit “bolder”… it wasn’t until Rosa laid all the cards on the table when she got the news that her arrangements were set, and then he finally had the realization that maybe he could try it out, by going with her! She didn’t twist his arm, he said it with his own words, that he’d go… he tried it out, then he decided to come back… that was the process….

Totally appreciate more of Gunther. Always the most interesting stuff here has Gunther in it.

Gunther and Tiffany get their mom & dad together. This takes care of Gunthers fear of Mr Gray.

You did complain about Rosa for years, yet you get indignant when anything negative is said about Tiff. I enjoy all the characters in this strip. Bashing them is not something I find entertaining.

Just because a man doesn’t express his love doesn’t mean he doesn’t love, just that he doesn’t express..TAKEN now, there’s a movie about a father expressing his tender love for his daughter.

Well, now…. this arc could get rather interesting! Could it actually be Tiff that jolts Gunther into action in re: his own indecision? Could listening to her story give him ideas as to how to break out from his own prison?

Honestly, I don’t anticipate any budding romance between the two, but maybe they can help each other more than they realize… not only educationally, but personally as well.

Oh my goodness. Did Tiffany just show a brief glimmer of comprehension that there are values in life to be cherished other than looks and money?

Wow’ deep word from Tiff.

Tiffany has a hard outer shell, and we can see in part why. Is Gunther enough of a lobsterman to crack it wide open? I doubt it. This salamandering adventure may stir the waters a bit, but in the end Tiffany will drive back home alone, again….

Sharing vulnerabilities… the first step toward (Dare we hope with Tiffany?) something real?

I think they need a new character for his romantic interest..

The two most insufferable characters in the strip get together and start to become human. I love it!

Armor down, self-revelation penetrates defenses.*Like Toni & Brad— she liked the idea he was interested in her mind and ideas, not just her appearance. Gunther too is not so much interested in Tiff’s appearance. (But what IS he interested in?

Oh oh, it looks like Tiff’s going to get a heart.

I believe Tiff does somewhat envy the closer relationship that Gunther has with his mom. I also hop Gunther appreciates the attention Tiff seems to be giving him these days, right down to that new dress that has to be fluttering in the breeze.

I think, maybe, at last we’re getting the mentioned (a long while back) Tiffany back story.

It will be very interesting…. very, very interesting if we get to hear quite a bit about Tiffany’s background….. learning what the environment was she grew up in to have her become who she is. I hope that this is revealed. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++So, Gunthie’s Mom has a big heart (yes, that seems likely) and “shallow” pockets? Hmm, the pockets may not be TOO shallow, since Gunthie was able to afford to go to Peru. Unless Rosa paid (seems unlikely) or that little Gunthie saved up money for a car or Peru all through high school without a job (seems unlikely).

Yeah, Tiffany is not nearly as bad as people make her out to be. She appreciates the good qualities in people.

Tiffany will be better for Gunther than Rosa ever was. Rosa never showed any concern for what Gunther wanted or needed.

Gunther’s mom is not destitute or terribly poor, but she has had to work outside the home for the money to raise and support her son. .She must watch all expenses.

.Her pockets are not empty, but never very full.

I see Tiff followed through on the little yellow dress.

The rehabilitation of Tiffany …

So you’re saying that because Tiffany goes for what she wants no matter what anyone else thinks about it or her that makes her a good person, when Rosa does the exact same thing it makes her a bad person.

There’s back story here that may come up, as Gunther and Tiffany have had some interaction before. She gave him a make-over, gave him a little attitude/self-confidence, and taught him how to kiss. When he went back to his traditional look, he kept a little of the attitude and she found it attractive.

OK, Tiffi, break that boy in !! OOOps, I forgot: you’re still a virgin.

They both need to grow, as neither has a clue what “life” really is. I’m ho-hum on this togetherness.

I missed the strip where Rosa said that was her goal, but she did what she wanted, like Tiffany does.

The dumping on Rosa is unfair. She does what she wants and likes Gunther at the same time. She doesn’t want to give up her dreams, that’s all. Gunther followed her to see if he could embrace her life journey – and found out he could not. They part friends – so no bad guys. Tiffany has spent years getting what she wants but seeking real affection ineffectively (because she only knows how to buy it). Exposure to Dez and being a bit at sea in college may help her be more real.

If I had a 58 Edsel that looked like that, BrdShtt…. I would drive it proudly every day! That was a really nice image.

Come on Gunther……what happens in Tiffany’s car, stays in Tiffany’s car.

I hope in the next strip or a future strip, they’ll be a panel that will have Tiffany’s foot step on a pedal.

Everybody in this strip who is not a student pretty much has a job. .Exceptions might include Nancy and Mrs Horner, retired. Mr. Fogarty may be working though he’s retired too. Jonah must have something in the way of a job to support his kid. .There are some people we don’t know much about, but Dirk seems supporting his kid. Ann E. seems to be able to get job after job. T. J. much the same. Knute and Crystal are of course undocumented at the time. Ben was in the military, is now apparently working. Stuart, too. Then there are the teachers at the two colleges. They have jobs..Even Rosa is picking up sticks.

looks to me like she has found the source of her shallowness she may be finding herself! then again, shes very variable.
