New poll up: Will Bernice mother-hen Piro?
Is Bernice a fuddy-duddy?1) 14 votes – No, of course not (cough, cough).2) 13 votes – Other.3) 9 votes – (giggle).4) 6 votes – We got to see her in a nightgown!5) 2 votes – What? What’s the question again?Other: Yes; She’s a huge, boring Fuddy Duddy and she would be perfect for Gunther; No, she’s a modest woman who is a bit confused right now; Forget the gown, we got to see her eyes!; Oh God yes. Massively so!; Bernice is a late bloomer; Ya Asking Me?; bernice has a boring side but she also has a fun side; Takes one to know one; Sometimes, and sometimes overly sarcastic and sometimes a worrier…; Not one bit. She’s just having a new experience; I don’t even know what that is….

Who knew Aussies would turn out to be decent looking zombies? Maybe there’s hope for this guy yet…

So what will Luann be wearing? Nose ears wig ??
Caldonia about 9 years ago
Will there ever be any conflict with this arc? Because the story is really suffering without that.

Luann is apparently falling apart…
Airman about 9 years ago
Apparently Mr. Gray’s past must not be a significant factor……yet?
Sisyphos about 9 years ago
Luann, aren’t those parts supposed to fall off a zombie anyway? Just gather them up and shuffle on out….

Bernice, mother hen, etc. – hah!
Speaking from experience, it’s the quiet ones that are usually the wildest – when given the right opportunity and circumstances to express themselves.

I would guess L&Q, given the context of the dialog and the gag in today’s strip (Frank’s comparing his “mud run” with the event they’re about to attend, and the gag of Luann’s “failed prosthetic parts” [which by perhaps unrelated coincidence seems similar to the general gags in the ‘halls comedic history’ about “stapling makeup, plastering face”, etc- Lol!] in getting ready for said event…
JayBluE about 9 years ago
Which is why I thought it was pretty convenient (in the positive use of the word) to “tie in” a previous arc, while going forward (at least in my estimation of today’s strip)…

Boy looks like Luann is being a bit abusive to Quill! The dude looks like he came from hell!

On a side note:how “dead” do you have to be before the other zombies stop gnawing on you?BTW – The overly complicated costumes make it neigh impossible to eat or drink properly; No Food Fair for You!

What OTHER parts are falling off, Luann?

What is with the writing on this strip?

Dave…. I too am thinking the arc will be Luann and Quill, and not so much the warehouse. Today’s effort makes it seem to have more of that feel than the warehouse feel. But, it could continue to be about both, I guess. But, my prognostication is to suggest that the warehouse talk was only used as a segue of sorts.

I’m wondering if this arc isn’t setting up the ending of the Luann and Quill relationship. It could be similar to what happened with the prom, but, in this case, Luann’s zombie costume keeps falling apart embarrassingly, and Quill keeps taking unwanted pics…

8I am thinking this could be a very fun and enjoyable Halloween arc. I hope we get to actually see Luann in whatever her costume may actually be or may morph into. :)One of the more interesting things today to me…. is specifically in the colorizing. I do not think I have ever seen subtle shading and gradation of color used before in Luann. At least to me, the Zombie makeup appears to have some rather fine gradations in it…. parts of it look much lighter (towards the outside). I am used to Luann (and comics in general, I think) being more solid colored when they are colorized. So, I guess I am wondering if anyone knows:1. Is this the first time color gradation HAS been used in Luann? Or am I just unaware of this having been used before?2. Does anyone have access to a B&W version of the comic that they can post? I cannot think there would be any sort of gradation scheme visible in the Zombie makeup in a B&W version (although I could be wrong, of course). It would be interesting to compare and contrast the two.So, even though I may be wrong about it being a “new” thing… to me the fine-tuning of the gradation of color in the Zombie makeup was very surprising and attention getting (obviously, since I am yammering about it). Anyone else notice the makeup in this way?

If Sheriff sees the above comment from me, I hope he may have time to talk to us a bit about this (seemingly) new coloring style for today’s comic.
JayBluE about 9 years ago
“or might be bits and pieces of each…^Could be! Would actually welcome it, as I’d like to see a couple of things interspersed together. Fun to see what will develop…

The strip just seems like it’s missing a panel. There should be a first panel that starts off the conversation. Or a strip from Saturday that shows Luann/Quill entering and getting ready for the night.
Without that…
- I have no idea what a Zombie Crawl is, haven’t heard of it before. - I actually thought it was TJ at first, not Quill. Probably because I associated Zombie Crawl with Pub Crawl and figure TJ/Brad would be out doing a possible bar thing. (I also associated Frank’s first comment to relate to Frank/Brad’s Mud Run)- Nancy’s comment about Luann working hard on her comment comes out of left field. What costume? These things are generally set up before hand. - And the strip turns out to be more about Mr. Gray and the warehouse progress. All together it seems out of place. I feel like I missed something.

I am adjusting to the new style of writing a bit. Used to be disappointed in Monday strips because the Friday/Saturday strips are usually the fruit of the week’s set up and much more high energy and developed. I’ll take a cue from some of the optimists here, and anticipate unexpected twists mid-week and a great end of the week wrap up:)
ACTIVIST1234 about 9 years ago
Her body parts are falling off. For a zombie, aren’t they supposed to?
luann1212 about 9 years ago
Luann will make her grand entrance for those of you dying to see her, except she will be zombiefied. Remember this is Luann, in Luannverse.
jayaresea about 9 years ago
I for one find Implausible’s comments regarding the strip to be interesting, usually thought-provoking, and sometimes extremely inarguable. It’s nice to see critical comments in a sea of what are usually rote compliments for the strip or banal descriptions of what I just looked at with my own two eyes.

I don’t understand all this fascination with zombies. Gross and nasty.

Well, thanks!!

Wow. All I can say. Well, I could say more things… but right now, I choose not too….

SPOILER ALERT
I thought this arc might be the beginning of the end of the Luann and Quill relationship, because he would repeat his behavior of taking pics of her when she didn’t want them (in this instance, when ‘costume failure’ of an embarrassing sort might happen.)
But it looks like the relationship might end because of a temptation offered by Luann’s own family…
