pru: hey, you! just in time for dinner! how was your day? luann: i'm beat. kids first keeps me hoppin'. plus classes and homework, you? pru: busy! the fuse is hustlin'! i've booked events and bands through may! luann: i'd say we deserve a nice home-cooked meal pru: what pairs with nuked pot pie? milk, oj or root beer?

I think milk or OJ goes well with microwaved pot pie, Pru… use the root beer with vanilla ice cream to make a float for dessert.

I wonder where this arc line is going. Les is out there, we still don’t know what happened with Tiffany, Bernice, Piro, and the TV, but we do know what happened with Toni and Brad. So there is that.

Beer goes good with Pot Pie. Or white wine.

@FLASH GORDON: I doubt that the Prudence and Les plot line is being abandoned. That’s probably the next topic of discussion between these two, after they decide which fattening bevvie goes with high carb pot pie… never mind the veg, unless you’re Wiley…

Root Beer Goes With Everything.

Luann & Pru getting along good! Very nice. We haven’t seen who Pru dates yet. Except for Pru, none of the girls seem to be leaning left at this time – might need a new character for her. Among the guys – I’d say Pru should give TJ a try.
Airman almost 8 years ago
First of all: Love Pru, hate the hair style (it belongs in the 40’s). Second: Luann will clue in Pru. Finally, Pru can keep the date, but bring a girlfriend. Best bet: cancel and have TJ explain the facts of life to Les.

Like Blune said above, I think a nice, frosty cold beer would go well with the pot pie. Beer seems to be universally good with Chinese food, Mexican Food, Italian food, American food, Cuban food, Indian food, Ecuadoran food, barbecue, a big dish of Paella, Dolmas, etc. Or, even with another beer. Not with ice cream and pie, though…

I’m sure there are probably some die – hards that have wine over their cornflakes first thing in the morning.

If they have some prune juice with it, it will be Potty Pie.

Hi Mom, what are you guys having for dinner? Can Pru and I come over?
31768 almost 8 years ago
A mismatched date with Les matches that.
Tyge almost 8 years ago
Pru can’t be THAT clueless. If she wanted to talk to Les about K2 stuff, she could have done it at K2. But JJ had to get Luann back into the mix somehow. Probably not with much success. Remember, her attempt with the getting Bernice dating with her art classmate went poorly.

The calm, before the storm. Maybe this is when Pru finds out about Les and his violent history. We’ll see what happens.

If it’s frozen food, well, someone, somewhere cooked it… Just think of zapping it at home as… “Completing the process”…

….unless it’s leftovers. Then, it’s… “Confirming the process”…..

“Foiled, Again!”

After a day like that, how about something a little stronger? Wine, 2 fingers of hard liquor, beer?

Fun interaction between Luann and Pru. As for what to drink with a pot pie (frozen style)… well, even though I would likely lean towards choosing a (barley based) beer or two or three…. realistically, a diet cola over ice and a salad would probably be the better nutritional choices. Pot pies are usually pretty high fat, and those two (diet cola and salad) would at least balance it out a bit.
.
I like that Luann is mentioning her “Kids First” job! It would be nice to have her segue into more of a discussion of that, and then perhaps back into her Pitt CC classes.

Where are they? The Fuse? Luannes’ housse? Prus’ apartment? Are they roomies?
Argy.Bargy2 almost 8 years ago
@QUEEN OF AMERICA: Prudence has been staying at the DeGroots’ house, and Luann still lives there because she’s going to a State College (Community College). Many State Colleges are commuter schools rather than having dorms…

Okay next question: Isn’t Luann in her third year of college now? So logically she’s over 21 and allowed to drink a glass of her Dad’s box wine? Or is there a plot point that I missed early on that this strip takes place in Utah and the entire family is Mormon? Also I still /don’t get/ why Pru the sophisticated lesbian from New York wants to have ANYTHING to do with this job, this town, these people from the fly-over space. She’s in her 20s her prime dating years and has presumably a lot less access to eligible women, she’s not working with the top tier talent she would encounter in New York, and frankly isn’t doing her career any favors either. This entire plot line about Pru is not even remotely believable.

Looks like Luann is taking at least two of Zebo’s classes this semester, in order to have classES

Never cook them in a microwave, always in the oven.

What pairs best with a pot pie is another pot pie. No misogyny.

@NIGHT-GAUNT49: My question had nothing to do with the political realm, and everything to do with ‘writing’. I am a wanna-be short story writer, so I was challenging Old-Timey-Dude’s statement about how believable this arc is, compared with an actual real life occurrence, and whether Old-Timey would be as critical of the writing of the Evanses if the arc were summarizing something that would, under ordinary circumstances, seem less than believable. And I continue to believe that my question is valid, and that I have the same right to ask it as you do to have the opinion that pot pies are best when baked in an oven rather than a microwave…
Argy.Bargy2 almost 8 years ago
@PROFESSORENESS: Thanks (I think?) for your interesting info. Being in my late 60’s, I actually do have a few creative writing classes in my past, and even a writer’s workshop on a once-upon-a-time thing called the Conference on the Fantastic. I respect Borges but he is way out of my league. Me, I can barely cobble together a coherent fantasy. Pretty much stick with basic mystery. Such as, who burned the pot pie? Mr. Oven or Ms. Microwave?
Brdshtt Premium Member almost 8 years ago
@ARGY.BARGY2: “…who burned the pot pie? Mr. Oven or Ms. Microwave?”
…
You might check with Mr. Refrigerator, one of his tenants, Colonel Mustard, might have seen something, if you can ketchup to him. Or, maybe one of those crumbs hiding under the toaster could tell you…

Pru had better get something straight with Les, before he tries to get something straight with her.
RSH almost 8 years ago
No one “deserves” anything in this life Luann. Ya want a home cooked meal? Get out the pots and pans and cook. It would probably take less time (or close to) than nuking that frozen pot pie.
wiatr almost 8 years ago
I have no idea what goes with potpie as I know I don’t. I’d rather melted cheese sandwiches with Ice tea.

This could get interesting. Les is sweet on Pru, who is clueless and could care less; however, Pru may be getting interested in Luann, but Evans may not be able to handle an arc like that; although it would get him some notoriety in his world.
