Bernice has apparently not noticed the camera in the upper left in panel #2. Somebody is watching or will see him sneaking out if they review what is stored on the drives.
First, if it’s midnight, that’s awfully quiet for a college dorm. Second, what’s on the carpet outside Bern’s room? That doesn’t look accidental. I’m wondering if Piro is going to trip over whatever it is, and have to go to the hospital? That’d serve to get Bern in trouble AND to swandive us all into some new knowledge about Piro.
Now all we need are all those long hallway backgrounds (like in animated shows, classic and otherwise), that seem to run constantly, as they talk and go along…or even run along…
“I know that taking stairwell C to the west side door is the best way to sneak out without being seen. That’s how I got the TV out of the dorm when I stole it from the rec room.”
Too much subterfuge, Bernice. This is not a spy mission. It is just having Piro go home. Yes, later than Dorm Policy allows, but geez, not that horrendous of a deal. Just give yourself an “infraction” and get it over with. :)
Throughout all of this, Piro has been very nice, congenial and pleasant. But, sadly, we don’t know a damn thing new about him.
The Bernice story, in all its manifestations, has taking up too much of the Luann universe. One would think that the Bernice story would revolve around her friend, and star of the show, Luann. But nooooo! We had a small arc of the two “BFFs” with Luann trying to help Bern out of her Piro fixation via dating. But that failed miserably. This strip is devolving into “For Better Or For Worse.” Wandering away from its original premise; introducing too many characters; becoming too close to the real world. Eventually the artist of “FBOFW” just gave up and put the strip into syndication. She’s off painting flowers or writing poetry of some such.
I still think Greg is trying to make some sort of mental health statement in the strip. He’s delved into the puberty hot button, the physical abuse hot button. What now, drug abuse, mental breakdown, homelessness… YUCK!
It’s the Mojo man, although to be fair I am not sure Piro knows he has mojo. Bernice is so gobsmacked with Piro she will still help him evade the rules, to keep a proto-relationship going, while even he shows concern for her RA position. Greg drops a “cookie” in that Piro says he “knows” about the sneaky stairwell. Adds to the mystery of Piro, and what happened to the TV, which of course brings in Tiffany.
This university is weird. I was a college girl. The only curfew for the new freshmen was midnight on school nights and it was unheard of that there cannot be any visitors past curfew. I was a RA for 3 years and I never concerned myself with visitors unless it was observed that a particular visitor was hanging around in the same room, same floor or a lounge for too long. I caught one – a younger sibling of a resident who ran away from home. Because he was underage, campus security called the city police who called the parents to come and pick him up. He hung around for a long time, around 3 months – his brother had a gang of old high school friends at the university so the brother crashed at all of their rooms but stayed with the college brother most of the time. Well, he caught my eye. RA does not generally watch out for visitors past curfew on a daily basis. All freshman dorm buildings were automatically locked at midnight and the magnet strip for key cards are deactivated so that was how we RA busted them when they tried to get in.
I think Bernice wants to see him out to make sure he doesn’t walk past Tiffany’s room or risk running into her. But Dez hasn’t returned yet. Maybe they will run into each other.
@TOINFINITYANDBEYONCE: Way back in the dinosaur ages when I was in college, if your roommate had a ‘visitor’, you conveniently crashed in someone else’s room that night…
My college had a 2 AM dorm curfew, and that was back in 1973. They wanted to abolish it altogether. I didn’t see the point. If you hadn’t scored by then, you weren’t going to.
this sucks… I have a designated amount of time to come to our slacker gocomics website, and when it’s doing a poor imitation of the dying cockroach position – belly up – I’ve got things to do today…. see y’all tomorrow it looks like, playing catch up. $^$_)(
