Nope, news flash for you, in the good old US of A now it’s silent racism. White or black, people know they should keep quiet, but we still creep out a lot of people. Only time my wife and I are just another couple is in the Caribbean Islands.
I was out for dinner with a black friend a few years ago in a small town. It didn’t occur to me why people in the restaurant were staring at us and muttering as we walked past … I thought maybe we were too casually dressed for the restaurant, or I had something unpleasant on my face. Suddenly my friend said, loudly “Hey, look, everybody! A mixed couple!” Every face in the restaurant was suddenly focused very intently on its plate. So yeah, it’s sadly still an issue for some people, even up here in sunny Canada.
World is polarizing, When you only see things in fear glazed extremes it’s easy to hate. The world is dull gray just shades of Us and Them when your wearing blinders so deathly tight, even rainbows are scary.
