At about that age my daughter asked me and my wife to sign the back of a piece of paper. She wouldn’t let us look on the other side. When we finally convinced her that we had to read it before we signed it, it turned out to be a contract (misspelled) that she had prepared. Many years later she told us that she had spent a lot of time thinking about how far she should go in what kinds of concessions she writes into the contract that she tries to get from us. It was basically about how much power she can have to make decisions on her own. Very clever.
