I bought a rather expensive magnetic locking cat door which required putting heavy magnets on the collars of my two cats. A raccoon kept getting into the house. I set up video cameras and found out he was simply pulling the door open. The latch was only blocked on one side (probably so cats could get out in an emergency).

That’s the problem with pet doors. Woodland creatures can get in as well.
