Actually, the people already here, at least some of them, DID object. Some objected quite strenuously. Even up until the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. I believe the Sioux Nation still has a standing declaration of war with the US, but that may have changed since I learned of it.
If the natives had not been nice and nursed and fed the invaders when they were sick and starving to death (50% each of the first 3 years) they (the invaders) might have given up, but they sent new ships every year for the first 4 – 5 years.
