Her mom is clearly thinking of a puppy. Hardly anyone walks their goldfish, hamster, or kitten. And while ponies can be walked, they are more commonly ridden.
Can’t ride the pony until you muck out the stable and check the hooves. And when you are done with the ride don’t forget to feed and water the pony and brush him/her down, check hooves for any stones or other problems and put a blanket on if it’s cold. And have a few carrots or an apple for a snack for your equine friend after you have given the feed.
