Not really. Encyclopedias were reliable. Google tells you that the recommended ammount to eat per day is one stone.
We could always rely on them.

You had to be careful and have a current almanac, too. My son was about to turn in a report that had missed a couple of elections.

And my misbehavior corner was near the shelf with the Encyclopedias. I loved getting sent to the corner so I could snatch a volume and read.
I remember our set came with a World Atlas. I loved to just pore over that gigantic book and read about different parts of the world.
My folks bought the whole set when I was born. I spent a lot of my childhood just going through them.
We got one in late 50s/early 60s. It served its purpose for many years, but was rather cumbersome
