My question is: What could ‘Marm’ do with paws instead of hands ???
All my animals have to know what I am doing. Only my Great Dane is large enough to get in there and see what is going on.

Teach him to fetch wrenches!
Maybe Marm could hold a flashlight while Phil’s working on the car.
I had a fellow like that. He was always interested in the sewer. He would put his ear to the ground and listen. If it didn’t sound right he’d let me know.
