I used to have large dogs. They always learned to walk at my pace. I never ran and never had a dog pull on his/her leash. Training is important, not only for in the house, but outside as well. They all want to please you, but if you don’t show or tell them what you want, they will do what nature wants. Marmaduke is an example of poor or non-existent training.

Don’t know about other Dane owners out there, but my guy is never in a hurry, unless he is chasing a deer, too many things to sniff.
