Marm reminds me of our family Black Lab, Pax. She would stick her cold, wet nose on mine when I was asleep. Feeling that plus those ticklish dog whiskers snapped my eyes open. That when she started kissing me because “the puppy was awake”.

You don’t have to be so CHEERFUL about it, Dottie ! ! ! Phil isn’t that bad of a husband that you have to ‘get back’ at him ! ! !

On the rare occasions my wife and I would try to sleep in, one of our Rotts would decide I needed to be up. He couldn’t cold nose us because of the blankets. So he would come rest his head on the bed and stare at me. He knew when I woke up, even if I didn’t open my eyes. If I didn’t get up and ignored him. He’d inhale deeply and exhale vigorously, blowing cold dog snarful on my face. THAT got me up with some alacrity.

This is the same dog that when my wife got home from work, ease up behind her, stick his head under her skirt and cold nose her behind, knowing full well she’d screech and smack at him.

Both were big games to him and we miss him badly.

My alarm goes off at 5:30, and my dogs just roll over and go back to sleep!

“cold nose” is right! I get that from my cat on my forehead along with some "purrr"s in my ear to get me awake.

I would have rather had the cold nose today. Cleaned the snow off the van early then when I was leaving for work we had ice cold rain. Our dog slept through it.

I often sleep with one foot out of the covers – I don’t know why. I have also often accused my wife of training the dog to come into the bedroom and apply that cold wet nose to the bottom of my foot. Not only is it guaranteed to SLAM you into consciousness, that first breath (GASP?) you take will also supply enough oxygen to last until noon.
