A tiny point of detail…but wasn’t Lila wearing a strapped garment (presumably a nightie or camisole) when lying next to Trace? Now no straps are visible. Perhaps the Trace experience was a dream after all…
@ Miss Tink and @comicsboi: Agreed. Strapless outfits are both practical and appropriate on New Year’s Eve, and a well prepared young lady (if Lila qualifies for that description) anticipating a night elsewhere than her own bed might well carry a negligee around in her purse. On reflection, perhaps she borrowed a negligee from Trace’s wardrobe…
All of you folks who are attaching labels to Lila, you keep forgetting to label to apply that also to the MEN. How can you forget so quickly a MAN was also involved. I am sick of having only labels for women.
Lila’s a modern, adult woman. She can partake of ‘intimacy’ however she chooses. Some of the commenters on this strip (past and present) sound like medieval dinosaurs. If you consider her behavior ‘slutty’ or ‘tramp-like’, then move to Saudi Arabia where you belong. Take your rocks with you.
‘tis true, there’s still that double standard. Girl ends up in bed with a guy, she’s considered a slut, guy ends up in bed with a girl, it’s said he got lucky.
@sassy1 – OK then, Matthew’s an uninspiring mummy’s boy, and Trace perhaps has his own interests as much at heart as those of the youngsters he teaches (as well as likely being a closet transvestite) – although neither of these judgements pack particularly neatly into a one word “label”. Let the record show that I agree with you, corzak and Elderflower, although one suspects that readers have been given the opportunity of commenting on story lines for precisely the purpose of provoking some entertaining debate.
A man scores on the 2nd date and he is a stud.A woman sleeps with a man on the 2nd date and she is a slut. .Right there is what most womens compaints are about.
sorry . . . I was little cranky this morning! But I didn’t like people pickin’ on Lila . . . she looks hot with the ‘all-messed-up’ look! (oops . . . did I write that?)

Nice attempted save, Boyd. Don’t think it’ll work, but thanks for making the effort.

OK, a guess - Lila was actually lying in bed with Matthew….
and she said OMG cos she realised she was fantasizing Trace there instead.
She wants to desire Matthew, but she doesn’t….
And she’s more physically attracted to Trace than she’s willing to be.
As for the straps… just a comics convention —
Without those simple little ink lines, there’d be two naked, unmarried people in one bed, and a big pile of letters from the farm belt.
hawgowar almost 13 years ago
You don’t think the farm belt is worse than Peyton Place? Apparently you’ve never lived there. ;-)
All that animal husbandry going on gives them ideas.

“… and she’s changed her eye makeup so that it’s smeared down her face. It’s the new look.” Yeah, right…. :-)

@sassy1: Come on, be fair – we haven’t seen enough of Matthew or Trace to apply labels to them yet

Corzak YEAH!!! Your answer was so much better than mine. But we made our point.

@ corzak – a little harsh, but I hear ya!

Nah, the straps are from the LBN (Little Black Nightie) that she keeps handy in her purse when she goes out on New Year’s Eve “just in case”.

you people do realize that this is a comic strip don’t you?

I don’t care how many mean and insulting things you all say about Lila, I think she’s delightful. ;-)

Re nudity in comics, check “That is priceless” for example, and today’s “Pibgorn” for the subject in general.

I wonder when the world will wake up and realize how sexist and unfunny the “Walk of Shame” comment really is?
