I meant to say that Annie wasn’t in the strip yet when Lila got Frankie…it will take a quite while in re-runs for her to even make her first appearance.

Well, fiddle…another artist has gone broke making comics. I can understand the economics and all…but dropping a strip in mid arc? I’m getting tired of it. Oh well…one less strip on my page…one more reason to think about just letting it all go.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. It’s been tough and you all have buoyed me though with your thoughtfulness. Lila is in reruns, but as I submit them, I am refreshing them with, hopefully, funnier content so you may enjoy taking a step back. Visit my website to learn more and, again, thank you for reading Lila these past nine years! I’ve enjoyed your comments every day!!! —John

So sad to see this strip end! Thanks, John, for brightening our mornings with Lila, Boyd, Annie and the rest. Your work has been refreshing, real and funny. You’ll be missed.

John, i am sorry to see this end…i was hoping you would have been able to follow up with that story idea i gave you a couple of years ago about LIla working with developmentally disabled adults (like my career…only THEY get some good lines, not me or the other staff!) Hopefully, you can bring LIla back someday……

I’ll read the reruns, but I will miss this strip.

I hate that there isn’t a viable model for the majority of comic strips to make money.

    Thanks, JWF—I love your work.

Yours was one of my favourites and I always saved it for nearly the end! I am very sorry to see you go. Could you not at least finish the Annie story arc and have Lila finally enter a healthy relationship with the teacher? It could all be wrapped up quickly. I love happy endings. There are so few in real life :-) Please????

While i love this strip, and again, sad at its ending, Lila isnt the first strip to end on a cliffhanger….Annie (nee Little Orphan Annie) also ended in a cliffhanger with Annie being help as a captive and Daddy Warbucks upset of her disappearance…..and the door was left open there for a possible return….
