    Heh, I have seen economists with too much time on their hands raise a similar issue about today’s economy – those people who have jobs may well have money but lack the opportunity to spend it in their communities and thus create demand.

    They’re probably not wrong but it’s not what I would have picked as Problem #1 – economists gotta economist, though.

    When you work you have no time to enjoy your money.

    When there is no work there is lots of time but no money to spend.

    I laughed so hard at the last panel. I worked two summers, starting at the age of 13, on a tobacco farm. I do remember the “tired”; I don’t remember the “bending over” problem. I developed a lifelong aversion to tobacco, helped my family income and learned to respect people who have to perform hard, tedious, physical labor for a living.
