China is not rising. China is reclaiming the place it occupied for centuries as one of the most powerful and richest countries in the world. That’s the reality in which we live and to which we must accommodate. Those who feel that the US can ignore China or wave its magic wand and make it submit are slaves of fantasy.
It seems to me that relations have improved as a result of their meeting. Minimally, the fentanyl deal will slow the flow of it into this country. Getting cooperation in some areas might thaw relations between the two countries. As Churchill said, “Jaw-jaw is better than war-war”.
Interesting that the US feels a right to monitor the ocean/seas adjacent to China as well as monitoring them from satellites. But, should china respond in kind.. eek.
China’s economy depends on the U.S. Right now their economy is way down. U.S. businesses use China’s cut-rate labor costs to avoid paying much higher wages and benefits to U.S. workers. China is not so communist any longer, though they have a dictatorship rule. Working with China is the smart thing to do.
From China expert Bill Bishop: “We may be entering a period of relative calm in the US-China relationship, though there is no reason to think that period will be more than a tactical stabilization. ..”
I know, we’ll get TikTok to silently cancel all of the pro-Israeli posts and disable their hashtags while we leave the anti-Israeli posts fully enabled. Does that sound OK to the rest of y’all on the Politburo?
Well, it didn’t exactly help that the minute the meetings were over in San Fran last week, Biden called him a dictator again. The funniest part was SOS Blinken wincing as Joe said that. Hilarious.

Fat, but a chance. Although the odds of me living long enough to see it are thin.

That’s ridiculous. If the US thinks that China is going away, wake up. China and the US need each other whether you like it or not.

Why do so many think we should support a communist dictatorship that uses horrible methods including genocide and slavery to control it’s citizens?
We all can push back on the China regime by shopping for goods not made there even if it means paying a little more.

What is wrong with these Democrat politicians trying to make this a better world. They should be more like Republicans and simply give up.

Nothing is wrong with it. But you have to be smart enough to know what and evil dictator is lying to you, which generally, Democrats aren’t.

Nothing is free in a Chinese restaurant, even a fortune cookie. And how much did President Biden over tip during Xi’s visit?

I saw where T called him “a brilliant man” and said “There is no one in Hollywood with the good looks or brains to play him in a movie.”

Fortune cookies were created in San Francisco. You won’t get one in China. Never made in China.

Congratulations, San Francisco, on having cleared your streets of Fentanyl for the sake of the chief commie who brings us all the Fentanyl.
