Years ago – long before they became ubiquitous – I had a “hands-free” phone in my pickup truck. The mic was installed in the headliner of the cab, above the visor. People really did think I was talking – or occasionally shouting, (reception being what it was) – to myself.

The Bluetooth headset, when it came out, convinced people I was nuts, as a walked around having conversations with myself.

I remember my first encounter with someone using smart phone technology and ear buds. I was sitting in a Doctor’s office waiting room with about 12 to 15 other patients and young woman was sitting there loudly talking with someone about very sensitive personal financial issues and she seemed to be oblivious to every body else in the room. She was talking loudly. I got the impression that she was bragging to everyone about her wealth. Amazing!
