A long time ago one of my buddies’ 18 year son got arrested for outstanding traffic tickets. He was put in the local city jail where he called his dad that night. Dad blew a gasket, read him the riot act over the phone and hung up. Dad cooled off after a while and called the jail. Got his son on the phone. “I am coming down to pay your bail.” His son replied, “Never mind Dad, we all just ordered pizzas. Come to the jail tomorrow.”
That young man joined the Marines that year. I attended his Marine graduation. He transformed to quite a man. He specialized in small armament, basically care and construction of guns. Funny to me because his dad is a pacifist.
The more I think about Mike’s fantasy, the harder I laugh! So many of us wanted to sing the blues, but we were just too darned comfortable…we sounded like we were singing in Sunday school!
