But only 10% as satisfying. Movies have to leave out too much of the story to fit a 2-hour limit.

And the milk duds sugar coma was more satisfying than working out at the gym.

Lord of the Rings was a 50-hour movie condensed into about 9. The Hobbit was a 3-hour movie condensed into about 9.

If you have a good book, then a mini-series is the way to go like Roots or Shogun. Notice that both of these are decades old.

re: dust catcherI felt the same way about the three books regarding "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The author could have condensed all 3 books into one. I am glad I read all 3 books, and agree wholeheartedly with the underlying message, I just wish a lot of the inner political workings of Sweden(?) were omitted.

prfesser, I know what you mean about Stephen King. Why use a sentence when you can use a paragraph, why use a paragraph when you can use a chapter. Why limit a chapter when you can make it a whole book. I have gotten where I can tell by the first sentence if it is filler BS and will skip it. If I did, by chance, miss something relevant, not to worry, it will be repeated a dozen more times. He does write a good story, which is why I suffer through them, but they are 3 or 4 times longer than necessary.
