    I explained that to a friend’s 14 year old son, no matter how old you get, you are still your parents’ “baby”.

    Right. We don’t mean they’re infants who can’t do anything on their own. It’s just a relationship description that never changes.

    My relationship with my mom changed. It was a bumpy transition, but we both wound up treating each others as adults. She was a very interesting person. I liked her in both of her roles.

    Years ago my mother warned me about that. Even when your baby is 60, you still worry about them. She was so right.
