I knew a kid who was a stand-put in Pee Wee football; dad decided that a full-ride Div I career leading to a high draft pick was inevitable; spent so much on football camps & specialized trainers that he lost his house.
Kid was 2nd string in high school & 3rd string at a Div III college.
I was a theatre kid, and I knew FAR too many ‘theatre moms’ who were just SURE that Johnny or Janie was going big any day. Thankfully, my mother was a bit more grounded.
Having been involved in helping run and coach junior sporting clubs, I can say that mouthy, pushy, loud, obliviot parents should either be banned or be forced to wear soundproof whatever over their rather large and too often open mouths

You would think that would be for the kid to decide.

Going pro isn’t the goal: college scholarship is the goal.

Those types of parents are the most annoying. The parents of kids with real potential are the strong, silent type.

There is nothing wrong with a vocal sports parent………………………………………………that a roll of duct tape can’t cure.

It is OK to hope they will be a pro someday as long as you realize it will probably not happen.
