You think that’s a dark thought, you should read the original books and the Tin Man’s origins.

That would have taken courage, Bear.

Now Bear is showing his amoral logic in that area though we can just imagine Bear as a Khalidah being the leader of all the monsters of Oz.

Khalidas look like giant bears with huge tiger heads and also, they can regenerate their body. Courageous Lion promised to one that was captured would eat it and let it regrow and eat more if the Khalida fails to answer his questions. The Khalida spilled all.
