I can understand your thoughts, Macushlalondra but when I started realizing it is time to start reducing what we own, flowers or candy became a better gift. (As much as I enjoy candy, I’d rather have the flowers, since they’re not fattening.)
doctortoon I really prefer fresh, cut roses to a plant, because when they wilt & die, I don’t feel guilty. (I have a black thumb). I specify roses, because I’m not too crazy about getting a bouquet that looks like it should have been sent to a funeral.

Flowers. The only gift you can give that lasts a week then shrivels up and dies and the recipient doesn’t complain about it.

I do. That’s why I told my husband not to bring me flowers or candy, they disappear. I want something that will last.

Plastic flowers last forever. So does plastic candy.

DrToon. My hubbie & I agree with you on that. However, he has gotten me a wonderful bouquet of roses at this point: silk, feather, brass, etc.
