Some years ago, I was in a mall. I had just made some purchases and decided to goof off. While working around, I started humming to the mall/elevator muzak playing overhead. I kept thinking – “I know this song”. The hamster wheel in my head stopped – The mall/elevator muzak was “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath
I wish. Once when I was working EMS, I turned to my partner and said, “You know you’re suffering music deprivation when you find yourself tapping your foot to the muzac.”
Someone called dispatch and complained that I insulted their elevator music.
I used to work for a company in Ventura Ca and would travel to the office on occasion. So I would stay at the Bella Maggiore Inn and always ask for room 17.
@PODAWG: Or the muzak in a grocery store. True story: When I was in the bay area (SF), the morning DJ on the classic rock station was Greg Kihn. Later when I moved to SoCal, I heard one of his songs in a Von’s. I thought about texting him and letting him know he made the big time and he can expect a spike in his royalty check.

I cannot imagine any elevator music where Slayer would not have been a better option.

I’ve never been in an elevator that had music playing.

Nothing ever happened, unfortunately.

You know you are getting old when the elevator music are some of the songs that are your favorites.

An elevator with abrasive music — that’s awesome! Only Jim Meddick would think of that and play it straight, like a British comedy sketch.

Why do elevators have to have music anyway?

There was a motel with a club attached where I was stationed once, and the first three rooms from the club were discounted due to the noise.
