The myth of Valley Forge. People think it was a harsh winter when the reality was it was a mild winter, temperature wise, which caused muddy impassable roads which delayed supplies.

A normal cold winter with snow would have been passable because that was again normal and what they were prepared for.

That is from what I understood from Park Rangers when I lived near Valley Forge in Mont Clare Pennsylvania.

♫“Our fathers bled at Valley Forge….

Wasn’t that a time? A time to try the souls of men

    Wasn’t that a terrible time?”♫

Defacing a dollar bill. George! So begins the presidential crime spree. Where will it end? Oh, yeah…

I recently learned something about Gilbert Stuart, whose portrait of George Washington was the basis of the picture on the dollar bill. Born in Rhode Island, he was a loyalist during the revolution, and left for England in 1775. He returned to what was now the U.S. in 1793, hoping to do a portrait of Washington. He spent the rest of his life in America.

Before signing it, George griped “What! I should be on the 100 dollar bill!”

His return with the money was delayed because he had to wait for the signature,

Will this spark a changed timeline arc, with, oh I don’t know, Doc’s meddling with the timeline leading to say Donald Trump or Andy Kaufman becoming president?

OH sure – sell it on eBay. I’m sure everyone will think a one dollar bill with Washington’s signature is genuine…

Apropos that he got the signature at Valley Forge. That must be why they call it a “forgery”.

When comic strip characters look through the third wall to show us something, how to they see us?

The really bad winter was 1779-1780 in Jockey Hollow, near Morristown, New Jersey. The winter set in early with bitter cold and heavy snow.
