It was required when I started high school. I took two years of Latin and one of Greek, and can’t remember any of it. I also managed to forgot everything to do with algebra.

grew up in Providence RI and at Classical high school, Latin was a required subject and we had 2 teachers who would stand in front of the class and have a conversation in Latin…now one gentleman looked just like Boris Karloff and the other was Bela Lugosi’s twin…we had Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster talking Latin in front of us, and they never could figure out why we were laughing so much
