A few years ago someone commented to my dad about the high price of bacon.“Yes, I’ve seen it higher”“How high was it it?”“Ten cents per pound”“How could that have been higher?”“Back in the depression, when nobody had a dime.”
I used to get $3.00 weekly allowance. I’d have to put gas in Dad’s ’52 Ford pickup, pick my girl up in another town, about 20 miles from Houston, take her to the drive-in and buy us popcorn and take her home after the movie.

My Dad and I used to get in the movies for $.24. $.09 for me $.15 for him during the 1940s.
