I suspect a rewrite.

Based on the style of furniture and the fact that they still used curtains to separate rooms – I am guessing that the original was more likely Greta Garbo! And even Julia Roberts has come and gone as Hollywood’s reigning beauty queen. Wonder who the re-writes will pick next?

Or “Clara Bow” or “Mary Pickford.” These guys go back to 1910 or so.

I agree with the others. I read this comic to “get away.” Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts do not belong in here.

I agree…we know the strip was in the 30’s-40’s…so keep it timely and true.

This rewrite person obviously fears utter ignorance of Hollywood history in the readers!

Maybe it was Lillian Gish. I just watched her last night in the silent movie version of La Boheme. She almost lived to 100 and made movies from 1912 to 1987.
