There really wasn’t a “shortage” of food during WW2. Rationing with its red points and blue points was incorporat4ed to prevent hoarding which would have created artificial shortages. Just like there was no shortage of gasoline, but gasoline was rationed to control driving because there was a shortage of rubber.
