Nowadays, those name patches would not be recommended. There is the very real danger that a potential child molester could see the patch and call out to the kid, leading the kid to think the person knows him and isn’t a stranger.
I have seen in bicycle departments in stores such as WalMart where they have kids’ names on mini-license plates. I have long believed those products should be permanently outlawed.
