I took my written tests this week in my class and passed with 99%. Now all I have to do is my evaluation which tests my mechanical skills. The school is closing for the Christmas break and won’t reopen until 1/6 so I have two weeks to practice and perfect my shuffling & pitching techniques. Then I will have my certificate and will be able to start making the “audition” rounds.
Good morning, Vagabonds. Did a lot of errands yesterday and came home very tired but I have just 75 pages left in Friedman’s “From Beirut to Jerusalem.”
Morning, Vagabonds. Finished reading Teffertiller’s “Wyatt Earp, the Life Behind the Legend.” Man, was it fascinating! It told me things I never knew about Wyatt Earp. Jan might be interested to know that Wyatt was a gambler. He actually spent many more years as a professional gambler than he did as a policeman. After Wyatt and Sadie left Tombstone, they went from boomtown to boomtown, making investments, running saloons, and mostly gambling. Wyatt’s favorite game was Faro and he was usually able to gain control of the gambling operations in any town they stayed in.
I don’t know what happened to my post yesterday morning.
Another sunny day today with the temp about 42. We are having a warming trend with the temps going up. They say maybe 50 today and in the upper 40’s for the weekend with rain. That should take care of the rain.
We hit the road early……Tuesday a.m. due to predicted snow. And, after looking at the web cams, there is a LOT of snow on the ground through all the areas we would have driven through. So, by leaving early, we sailed through the high country, and are now in St. George, Utah. After a leisurely breakfast, we will hit the road about 10 or so. Jan, we’ll be passing by Vegas around noon…….we’ll wave to you as we zoom by. We usually stop for gas at the Sam’s Club in North LV, and continue on. I guess we would make poor customers for you! Congrats on a great score!
David……thanks for sharing about the Earps. What a fascinating time they lived in.
Palmdale for the next few days. Going to have a mini Christmas tonight, and tomorrow going in to see all the gang where I used to work, and just relax for a while.
