    Good morning Vagabonds

Of course good is a relative term as we have snow flying about outside, temps in the low 30s. The forecast says snow in the morning, rain this afternoon and a high of 39.

I’m thinking of making my run to Newport this afternoon in order to ditch the Black Friday crowd mostly at Wally World. We’ll see.

In other news: I’m ready for turkey, potato, gravy, stuffing, Golden Glo Salad, pumpkin pie. And after all that, I will be stuffed like a turkey.

My favorite thing on Thanksgiving is The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This goes back to the sixties when CBS would show not only Macy’s parade, but also Gimbel’s and the J L Hudson parades. This was hosted by Captain Kangaroo and his crew from the Treasure House.

Have a blessed day Vagabonds, may God keep you well.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

So far I’ve made the raw cranberry relish that needs to sit for a day or so for the flavors to blend and the Chex mix. Today’s project is to get the Thanksgiving decorations up (finally) after the housekeeper leaves and make the spiced cider. Everything else gets done tomorrow. And our menu is similar to Mark’s though I don’t know what a “golden glo” salad is. Ours will be a green salad. And I’m making a blackberry pie which is a tradition in our family. I found a “pie bird” on Amazon that is just like the one my mother used to use in her blackberry pies (“4 & 20 blackbirds baked in a pie”). Come to think of it, the cranberries, Chex mix and blackberry pie are all old family traditions (and recipes).

Yesterday was the prayer group and a bit of an excursion. There’s a new grocery store way out on the road to Lake Mead from the church that I wanted to see. So I drove all the way out to the entrance to the Lake Mead NRA and couldn’t find it. I turned around and found it halfway back to the church. It is enormous! It’s at least twice as big as a normal grocery store, but they were out of the one thing I needed to buy (cinnamon sticks). So I ended up back at Walmart and spent less than $5. A record low for me….

Today the housekeeper will be here around 11 and then I can get going on the rest of the Thanksgiving preparations. It’s 55 at the moment on its way to 65. Blue skies and con trails out my window.

Everyone have a blessed day and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
