I’m reminded of the scene in Silverlock when Golias a.k.a. Widsith tells the Battle of the Alamo in Anglo-Saxon alliteration:

“Harsh that hearing for Houston the Raven:

Fools had enfeebled the fortress at Bexar,

Leaving it lacking and looted the while

Hordes were sweeping swift on his land,

Hell-bent to crush him…."

Wait till he meets V.

Such alliteration was The Thing To Do back in the olden days epics of the North. Think Beowulf….

I had decided to name my Norwegian Elkhound ‘Baldur’, despite the unfortunate baggage that name carries (Hey, what Norse name doesn’t?). When I told the breeder, she scoffed playfully and said, “Baldurdash!” My response was “PERFECT!”

Sir Dudley’s copy of “How to Win Friends and Influence People” has been lost in the Amazon warehouse since before Amazon existed.

Those long, cold winters left the Norse with nothing to do through most of Winter except kill one another or compose and recite long, boring poems to pass the time.

Killing one another tends to make the place pretty stinky, so they usually tried to concentrate on the Poetry.
