Strange. “Geek” was not used in 1950s slang to denote a genius or an intellectual. The preferred 50s term was “egghead”, or if British, “boffin”. Perhaps the text has been updated?

Funny, I thought that traditional Geeks were pretty hard on our feathered friends.
