Sluggo: Hey, Nancy-- FLYING SAUCERS. Nancy: I've heard of those things. WHERE? WHERE? Sluggo: Over here. Building reads: DINER
The term “flying saucer” had been used since the 1890s to refer to the clay pigeon disks used in target practice.
In the late 1940s, the term began to appear in print to describe unexplained aerial phenomena later called UFOs.
The so called “Roswell Incident” happened in June of 1947.
The “Nancy” strip posted above appeared in April of 1950, less than three years after the Roswell stories began to appear.
An episode of DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES gone wrong!
Now how are you going to survive if you keep throwing away the inventory?
Southpaw!
Is that Mr.Arnold throwing those saucers?
There goes another chef from Tony’s!
You have to wait while they wash their one plate from the previous customer. it was like spaghetti night when they ran out of forks.
The fun kind.
