Aunt Fritzi typing: I always hoped she'd come back-- That she would once again get it TOGETHER-- That voice that touched our inner-most souls-- The voice that was as big as FOREVER-- And he or she who is mistake-free-- Let them cast the first STONE-- For me, I pray she finally finds peace-- Now that Whitney's been called HOME.

As my elders would always say "she’s at home with the lord”.

I never cared for "screamin’ " Whitney anyway.
I also agree with workjobb.

There’s just so much compassion in the world, and we must only use it on people who live up to our exacting standards.

as a person that is clean and sober i must say that i don’t like the negative comments here. people make mistakes. it doesn’t make them monsters. monsters hurt others. Whitney (and Davy) wasn’t a monster. she just got sucked in. like me. i’m sorry she didn’t get free. like me.

Pray for the dead; Work like Hell for the living. That National Anthem she sang gave me goosebumps.Drugs and other addictive stuff mess you up so that you are not your own person. The outcome for Whitney was a real shame.People need all the help they can get—and sometimes they just don’t get it.

Thank you, Guy & Brad for expressing so well my own sentiment. I long expected that she would, once again, take center stage as a commanding performer.

I have paid tribute to Davy Jones. You’ll see it in a few weeks. I work several weeks up. You haven’t seen it yet if you don’t follow NANCY on FaceBook. The Nancy Comic Strip on FB gives you behind the scenes kinds of stuff like that. You may want to sign up. I have remembered those who have touched my life in this comic strip and will continue to do so. I write an honest comic. A reflection of what I think is funny, touching, or somehow will be something my readers enjoy reading….and I do it honestly and from the heart without ever trying to please everyone. Thank you all for reading.

As much as I admired Davy Jones, he may not have been the clean-cut boy next door we all thought he was. One of the local DJs here was said one morning that Davy was a “knock-down, fall-out drunk.” (His words, not mine.) The DJ was a member of Davy’s backing band when he played here a few years back and said that he and some of the other band member drove with Davy to the show in a limo. Davy asked the driver to stop at a liquor store on the way, and gave the driver money for two bottles of Jack Daniels. By the time they got to the venue, Davy had killed the first bottle and was just starting on the second. But he managed to do the whole show without a glitch. Anyway, that’s the story the DJ gave.

She’s not the first, and won’t be the last, who was destroyed by inappropriate behavior that was introduced by some low-life.

Thank you for this strip. I have enjoyed it since the late ’50’s and I especially like strips like this one.

Davy Jones was my heartthrob when I was 11 and 12. How many of your women were like me and laid on your beds thinking of him? Sigh…

The day “Whitney” died, a number of U. S. military personnel died. How much did your hear about them in the media?

Whitney had such talent, and a bright future, but she stepped away from her roots and became lost to how she was raised. I mourn the loss of her talent, but she paid the price of her sins.

Never could stand Whitney Houston. Sorry she died so young though. My prayers are with her family. As for Davey Jones, I don’t care what he did with his private life, I will always be a Monkey’s fan. Goodbye Davey, we’ll miss ya.
