“Lamont Cranston” WAS an alias. The Shadow’s real name was Kent Allard.

I learned to read from 10 cent comic books.

I remember what a financial disaster it was for me when they went to twelve cents.

Mad magazine at its height had jokes and stories that were lost on kids who read it.

Likely, any kid who’s reading “Nancy” is already at least somewhat aware of past pop culture. I mean, think about it.

The weed of crime bears bitter fruit………….The Shadow and the lovely Margo Lane are just a taste of what is to come. I enjoyed doing the art research , etc for this visit to the past. I cannot be all types of comic strip to all readers all at once. Only to try my hardest on what ever strip I am writing and drawing that day. As far as character licensing, no. I do not need a license to simply draw in a character from pop culture for a day or two. There is a difference between mentions and guest appearances for a day or so in a column and selling pictures and t-shirts and the like.

A good Oona Goosepimple story can take off in almost any direction, so long as it is Dada-esque.

Now for a Firesign Theatre reference: “Forward (tick-tock-tick-tock) into the past.” Couldn’t resist…the FT’s albums permanently warped me when I was a teenager in the Seventies, so this arc is perfect.

That old time radio should have been a clue. Guess I was on the right track with my comment yesterday about Orson Welles and his Mercury Theater group.

The Shadow is my favorite pulp magazine, radio stories,& comic books! I have a large collection, 178 pulps,12 hard covers, all but one paperbacks, about 40 or 50comics & much, much more! The entire collection is upfor sale because I need to buy a vehicle that both mydisabled wife & myself need very badly! We cannot usepublic transportation & the bus service for handicappedhere in Milwaukee is not very reliable! PLEASE, if any ofyou know of anyone who might be interested in buying mycollection, send a Email to MIKEIMJ@YAHOO.COMTHANK YOU! THANK YOU!!

Guy, you do what you want – it seems to be fine. We as an audience are here to watch you create. Those that want control must have their own strips somewhere else that we don’t know about.
