I never got that. As much as I like a real fireplace, it would never occur to me to use a video of one as a replacement. And I say that as someone who spends a large percentage of his time in front of screens watching videos.
Stop replying to Alexikakos. He just wants the attention and “Featured Comment” status.
Is Jaimes, eight months into the job, comparable to Bushmiller when he was 25-30 years into drawing Fritzi Ritz/Nancy? No—at least not yet. Was Gilchrist comparable to Bushmiller? ALSO NO. Gilchrist may have been a superior illustrator to Jaimes, but he spent 20+ years sapping all humor and gag-istry out of the strip. But that didn’t stop Alexikakos from following Gilchrist to the bitter end.
Please ! Look at and read Gilchrist’s strips compared to Bushmiller’s and maybe you’ll finally begin to realize how bad Gilchrist was. But I love how Alexikakos doesn’t realize that most of the die-hard Nancy fans ALSO read Nancy Classics and therefore thinks we have to be apprised of Bushmiller’s genius.
WHEN YOU REALIZE THIS THING YOU AND ALL THESE SO-CALLED TASTEMAKERS LIKE IS ACTUALLY BAD?!? EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG AND I’M RIGHT!!! STOP!!! LISTEN TO MEEEEEE!!!!!!
Hey, don’t delete the post about Gilchrist outright copying Bushmiller!

Which is from a comic genius, and which is from a talentless hack?
You’ll note, by the way, that the baseballer is playing for the New Britain Rock Cats, whose logo at the time was designed by … Guy Gilchrist. Nothing like a little crass self-promotion in your copying.
I did note in my original reply, and I want to stress, that you can’t call it plagiarism if you’re working for the rights holders, but there’s a reason why early Gilchrist is sometimes called Bushmiller-like – it’s easy to be like something if you copy it outright.
Why in the world would anyone want to get into a stupid Flame War about the NANCY comic strip??? Everyone just go play with your Christmas toys and relax… :-P
I started reading Nancy with Gilchrist, so I don’t know what the Bushmiller ones were like, but I don’t care for the current ones. Seems to me that Nancy has become a brat and that annoys me and I don’t find it the least bit funny. I don’t have much patience for children’s bad behavior, even in comic strips. One reason I never had children. I read them to be entertained and, so far, I’m pretty, much not. I’m still toying with whether to stop reading or not. Just my personal opinion, so please no insults or jabs and I will not reply to any. I welcome any reply’s, not lead by anger.
Mr Bushmiller was the creator oh Nancy back in 32 or 33, and drew the strip for about 50 years , Gilchrist was at the helm for 20 years. So I say after only 8 months, let’s give Miss Jaimes time, I personally like Olivia Jaimes work she is doing, I don’t think she should try to copy the style of the comic strips of former days, but take it the direction that she wants. I think she is, and will continue to do fine.
I actually love this new author of Nancy! Her ideas are funnier. I love that she has taken the relationship of Nancy and her aunt to a whole new level. I also especially appreciate that her aunt is a human and not an object.

Well, won’t have to worry about smoke pollution if they’re having a “no burn” day.

Excuse me? “Give me that when you’re done?” Not how you ask your guardian, my dear. It’s “May I please have that when you’re done?”

I have gotten a real kick out of all of the O. Jaimes Nancy’s since April. Keep it up!
