This gag would have been easier to understand if Nancy’s balloon hadn’t overlapped the teacher’s balloon in panel 2. And it’s an easy fix, just bring the tail in from thr left.
I am not overly fond of Sluggo sleeping in class… nor being the butt of Nancy’s joke.
However….. Nancy’s sleepy eyed expression…. very, very well done. With such a minimalist level of lines and shapes…… it is impressive how purely and clearly displayed the sleepy state is shown. Bravo!
For no good reason, I’ve been contemplating the horrible drawing of Nancy and Sluggo in the “Relationship Goals: Nancy and Sluggo Through the Years” box. I’m thinking it must have illustrated the saying “In the Country of the Blind, the one-eyed man is King.”
Here, Sluggo has the embrace of the title character, and because of his condition, he is not bothered by her lack of depth. He is, indeed, King.
