2am inspiration strikes again. I remember reading an interview with a programmer (who shall remain nameless since it’s a bit of a dated story) who said he did his best design at 2am, since that’s when you could go get a coffee and meet all the borderline mutants from the open ward, as he put it.
Anyone else can’t get over the “I” at the top of the clock? I mean, I’ve seen some old clocks showing a IIII instead of a IV but never seen the I at the center top.
I often do something similar when I can’t sleep. I visualize a clock face and hear it ticking like the stopwatch on “60 Minutes”. I visualize the hands of the clock starting at 12:00 and spinning through the hours at a rate of one tick every second, as though the minute hand were a second hand. As I progress through the hours of the night and day, I think about what I would be doing if it were that time. I usually fall asleep after counting 12-14 hours that way (12-14 minutes of real time.)
This is a strangely bizarre but satisfying strip. But again…I have to wonder if Nancy has glued her clock to the ceiling about her bed. And did all those toys move around on the floor between panel 3 and 4, or is that representing her in dream land? All these things are going to keep me awake tonight…

In my youth I would do the same thing. I would wake up and realize I did a 180 in my bed!!

It looks like Nancy hypnotized herself.

One of the many reasons why I like Nancy now. I recall having that problem of heat and cold on my face. Though never solved it like this.
