I know OJ returns to this theme a lot, but one thing I like is that Nancy’s position has shifted slightly over the 18 months or so since it was introduced- OJ is secretly indulging in long form character development under the guise of a gag a day.
Philosophy school must be murder! You can’t achieve failure if you didn’t try for it? Then doesn’t that mean success came to you without trying? Or, you tried for success but failed? Then you didn’t try for failure which is the whole point, so don’t be embarrassed.
Even though this theme is VERY frequently shown here, and I would love to have occur more frequently several of the other themes that seem to have been reduced in presence…
…. this was nicely done today. I especially enjoy the added perspiration that shows on Nancy’s forehead in panel 4. It suggests that she is definitely NOT conning herself into believing what she is saying… even though she still is hoping to convince Sluggo of the validity of this point of view.
