Do you feel the incumbent has represented your interests? Has he been caught in a bribe/sex scandal/corporate vacation yet? Then vote for him. You know his name. Remember it was on TV when they raised taxes. Remember he decreased unemployment by increasing government jobs. At least the devil you know won’t do anything different.

I have noticed that the longer a politician stays in Washington, D.C. the more they emphasize what they’ve done for you (usually involves spending our tax money) and less of what they stand for (like lower taxes, etc.) Our founders never expected our Senators & Representatives to be full-time politicians. They were supposed to be in their districts more than in the capital.

Rmom, there are two basic problems: 1) The longer a career politician is in office, the more dishonest he becomes. 2) The longer an honest person is in office, the more he comes to realize that the government can’t accomplish anything positive if taxes are lowered. Me, I’m just happy to live in the single industrialized nation in the world with the lowest tax rates overall (that is, the United States). Rather than complain about how much taxes I have to pay (which is to say, not very much at all), I write letters to my legislators urging policy changes to benefit the lower and middle classes at the expense of the wealthy and the big corporations, rather than the reverse (as has been the case for most iof my lifetime).
