Quack Yourself Up With These Comics On Donald Duck Day
by The GoComics TeamToday is Donald Duck Day, commemorating the character's June 9, 1934 debut in Disney's Silly Symphonies short "The Wise Little Hen." The 83-year-old duck's had hundreds of animated appearances over the years, so it's easy to take for granted that he's also a multimedia maestro with an arguably even more pronounced comics career. In parts of Europe (including Finland!), Donald Duck is a veritable comics superstar. There Donald, Uncle Scrooge and the rest of their web-footed kin, enjoy massive fowl-owings to rival just about anything. It's no wonder then, why so many GoComics cartoonists have harnessed the pantsless sailor's appeal in their works. That's why today we've gathered a flock of them up for your reading pleasure.

Who’s that small bird on the right of Donald Duck?

The Drabble didn’t have anything to do with Donald Duck!

Although Donald was created for the “Wise Little Hen” cartoon, he really came into his own, in the look and personality we now associate with him, in Carl Barks’ comic books (starting in October 1942), so I tend to think of Donald as being some 8 years younger than his “official” age of 83. Happy birthday nonetheless, Unka Donald!

One of my fave episodes of Donald will always be “Truant Officer Donald”, it showed me the plunger gun, which I thought was one of the best gags in cartoon history ever. Who else saw that one?
