As a retired police officer, I hate to say this but those calls are pretty much a scam. The decal doesn’t mean a thing, as Mr. Sandy implies, it only looks great in the window.
I would ask that if someone is so inclined to support the FOP or a local law enforcement agency (please do), please contact the local chapter or the agency directly. The FOP does give scholarships to children of LEOs who have died in the line of duty and those who, thankfully, are still living. The organization also provides support to officers who have been injured in the line of duty and support to the families who have lost their officer.
All of the calls I get do not benefit the group in their name. They are allowed to keep salaries, fundraising expenses, and political lobbying expenses.
