So, how many humans would make the same sacrifice just to mate? (Perhaps not enough, the way things are going…)

Wiley really went beyond ‘fine humor’ with this one.

Judging by the other comments, this ‘toon seems to have a rather high-quality audience (no L33T speak, for one ! :P), and still, the joke’s full subtlety does not seem to be appreciated.

I’m really, really laughing my a** off, being able to read such a fine joke in a webcomic in 2009, go Wiley ! ;)

Do it once and die? Seems a little harsh, doesn’t it? I mean, if a guy has a heart attack afterwards and keels over, that’s just the breaks, but getting your head bitten off by the female is EXTREMELY heavy criticism of your lovemaking skills. A bleak future if you’re a male mantis - celibate, gay, or death. (I didn’t even know they had their own bars).

Man who says he want’s a woman who is an animal in bed needs to specify which species…

Ralph is fortunate that is all he lost. My last experence was MUCH worse.

There’s a species of spider whose males catch a bug, wrap it up nice, and then bring it as a present to the female.

While she eats the bug, they get their jollies and then escape alive.

I’ve had that happen more than once,just different body part!!!

Is that Ralph from the Honeymooners? Serves him right for cheating on Alice, although I don’t know how he’s going to explain this little mishap to her.
