Excellent strip. I’m not sure if this guy would qualify for a Darwin Award or not. I think that requires some sort of highly intentional dumb act. This would simply be stupid.

That’s why they’re called “smart” phones. Don’t see any of THEM in the hole! This reminds me of the idjits on the freeways driving 10-15 MPH over the limit, changing lanes, with one of the damn things pressed to their ear.

It would be funny if it hadn’t actually happened two years ago. Google “Alexa Longueira” and read the stupid but true story.

My ex-girlfriend (we’re still friends) will not usually answer a phone call, but will reply quickly to a text. (Go figure, I never could). I texted her one day, but she didn’t understand what I was asking. Rather that type a long, complicated message, I sent, “Can I call you?” Her texted reply? “No, driving.”

    Huh?

LOL @thebird55 and bluskies. It works with stupid phones too. It’s just so tempting, when I’m walking along and receive a text, to keep walking while looking at the screen.

What’s funny is watching people getting on escalators in the mall, and not understanding right away why they’ve fallen flat on their faces.

I had a guy change lanes in front of me without signaling and then brake check me. I climbed real hard on the binders while looking in the rear view mirror wondering if I was going to get rear ended. It was a CHP officer. As soon as he could the CHP officer got around me and hit the lights on the guy that chopped me. That was a satisfying moment.

Incident happened in Staten Island, NY where the law holds that an injured person may not recover for injuries caused by a defect (i.e., an open manhole cover) that’s “open and obvious”—the question then becomes is an open manhole cover “open and obvious” ? I would certainly think so. And for what it’s worth, a check of the New York Court data base reflects that though the family filed a Notice of Claim with NYC they never filed an actual lawsuit in the New York courts…

It’d be the same reason they use their PIN number to get into the ATM machine. They also have to print OUT or OFF something, instead of just printing it from their computer.

Stuff like this has already happened. I recall one girl that was walking along in the mall and fell into one of the fountains while busy with her cell phone. Last I recall, she was suing the Mall because the employees laughed at her.

Personally, I would have busted a gut. Really weird how culling the herd works these days. Those that should be culled sue instead putting those that do well out of business. So those we need gone, thrive instead.

Write one about that Wiley. Try not to get sued in the process, though.

Unfortunately, all too true – here in Calgary, two pedestrians died in a single week earlier this month by getting hit by commuter trains or buses while wearing headphones and using electronic devices – adding to others earlier in the year.
