Where I live, playgrounds have become places to sit. The mom or dad sits and reads or chats on Wassap, the toddlers sit and play Angry Birds or similar. Kids don’t play actual physical games anymore.
Looks like fun! Fortunately, the park near our home has swings suitable for adults as well as kids. I’m gonna take a walk over there this afternoon and swing with the snakes.
This is in deference to swimming with the sharks because in Minnesota, we are a long way from the coast…
We had an angry bird stuck in the soffit above the garage and there was no way, short of disassembling part of the garage, to reach it. How it got there is beyond me, and repeated attempts to try to get it to leave were futile! It is quiet now, so either it escaped on its own, or ???
That’s our kind of playground. We weren’t interested if it didn’t involve pointy things, poisonous sea life, explosions, unprotected high speed or falling from heights. Consequently, we understood that, if we got hurt, it was our own doing. No whining that it was someone else’s fault. If you’re under 40 today, you’re likely a miserable little blame artist.

This is one way to prepare the little kiddies for life. Nothing is ever easy.

The utility of any object is inversely proportional to how safe it is made.

dflak: Generally, Hudson’s/James Bay is considered part of the Atlantic; if not, you’re right.
