    Chikuku: There are in the summer. They, more than swamps, muskeg, and mountains, were the problem in building the ALCAN highway.

    Night Gaunt: OK, so Fairbanks is technically south of the Arctic Circle, but not by much. It is colloquially and meteorologically considered arctic. The Alcan was built in WW-II to get supplies to Alaska without being sunk by Japanese submarines. It runs from Dawson City to Fairbanks. Having encountered those who built it and those who have driven it in the 21st century, there are mosquitos.
