    basically stupid: “Lafayette, nous somme ici.” That was back when we knew the US wouldn’t have existed without Lafayette, de Grasse, etc. Indeed France would have probably held out longer in WW-II if the US Reich-wingers hadn’t undercut the national union coalition of the French government in the late 1930s. After all, two of the main financiers of Hitler’s rise to power were Ford and Firestone. And don’t bring up the more recent wars of US aggression. France learned imperialism was dead back in Indo-China. At least, unlike the US, they used Legion Estranger rather than their own conscripts for that war. They were hardly going to die to help the US make the same mistakes.
